"No one said it was going to be easy"

It never seems to amaze me how people constantly try and complicate the process of getting fitter and stronger. Look around any gyms and you see people doing it everyday. They sit there working out their 78.5% 1 rep max , because they read on the poster on the back of the dunny door in the gym that this is the best 'zone' for muscle growth. They plan their dropsets, supersets and the like to chase the burn, because remember that gives you the cuts - what hogwash.

I bet if you asked this guru what he was doing he would say he was implementing the latest scientific findings on muscle growth published straight out of 'buffed-one'. I bet you the real reason (and the one he doesn't even realise) is that he is running from the obvious - hard work produces results. Hey, no one said it was going to be easy did they?

When someone starts implementing all these techniques into their training, they do so in the hope of getting more results by making the workout harder, but they never do. What they are doing is running from the hard work which needs to be done. If you want the quickest results possible from your training, then stick to the basics. So what are the basics you ask:

- Stick to a 4-6 rep range. If you can get 6 reps in good form, increase the weight

- Reach momentary muscular failure on EVERY set.

- Stick to basic exercises such as squats, bench press and deadlifts etc

- Leave all the 'so called' intensity techniques at the door. In reality, these just diminish results. All these do is increase muscular fatigue, and fatigue doesn't build muscle - overload does.

- and don't forget to EAT

 

The muscle building process is so simple, people always overcomplicate it. But just as anything you want in life, if you truly want it you will have to work your ass off for it. No one ever reached their physique goals by accident. Success is a planned event, and with that said, bite the bullet and get to work. It won't be easy, but in the end it will be well worth the investment.
