"Keep the Faith"
You might be wondering by the title of this weeks topic that I have gone all new-age and spiritual, but believe it or stop I am still focusing on training. And when it comes to training, having a little faith can go a long way.
As I have ranted on about many times before, making positive improvements to your physique is so simple, yet still we all manage to go off the tracks every now and then. I basically put this down to our eagerness, wanting a little more and more and not willing to put in the necessary time to achieve it. Hey, we are all guilty of it, and sometimes you don't even realise you are doing it until you are doing it. I believe we end up in this scenario because we lose of faith
We lose the faith in ourselves and in our abilities
Training is so simple. Hit the weights hard to ignite the muscle building process, feed you body good quality foods and get adequate recovery. Do these 3 and you will get results. More often then not, we'll start popping in an extra set here, extra exercise there on the pretence that more is better. We all know by now that it just doesn't work like that. Too much work will be counter-productive, and you could even end up smaller at the end of the day because you fail to let your body grow (every extra set, extra rep, missed meal, and lack of sleep all plays havoc with our recovery and the process of over compensation).
You need to remain true to your program and in control of your eagerness. Instead of adding in greater amounts of training volume, you are better off re-directing that drive into delivering greater intensity into the workout you do have.
Right from the start you have made a sound, logical judgment when creating your ideal workout program. So why should any of that change when you are a month into it? It shouldn't.
If you ever get to the stage that you are questioning your approach to achieving your ultimate physique, and you do need to make a change, it is always better to do less. But the best approach I believe, is to stick on the path you have created, it will be the one which delivers meaningful results.
