"Dream BIG, but be Realistic"

It would have been a big day for all the bodybuilding folk who live in Melbourne yesterday. The big boys came to town for the Australian Grand Prix, Australia's own Pro Bodybuilding show.

No matter which side of the bodybuilding fence you sit on, you just can't help but show admiration for these guys. They are the top of the top in our sport, and if you ever need some motivation to get your but into the gym and train, then these guys hit you like a freight train at top speed.

To see men stand in front of you at 120+kgs with 3% bodyfat displaying perfect symmetry is an awesome sight, one which can set your motivational fires burning out of control, with your own dreams of standing next to them in 1 years time. But one needs to be careful. Having big dreams is a necessity to get anything in life you want, you do need to be realistic.

Hey, I'm not saying you will never be an IFBB pro, but to starve off frustration you need to be realistic. If your a novice lifter, realise it won't happen in 2 years. Most of the big boys have been training for 15+ years before they even get their Pro Cards. There are exceptions, but these guys are an exception rather then the rule.

If you are well developed but have terrible genetics or bad symmetry the same can be said here. It is going to take time to tackle these areas. Most overnight sensations have been years in the making, it's just that nobody knew about them.

Dreaming big is important, but so is being realistic. Make sure that you enjoy the daily journey the way you will think you will enjoy the end result. It is a long time until drinks so if you don't enjoy the process now, then I can almost guarantee that you will never get there.

Who knows. Maybe by tackling one small step at a time, you'll reach your dreams sooner then later.
